Yellow maca is available in different processing styles and product formats. The easiest way to choose is to work through the options step by step.
The first decision is whether you prefer raw yellow maca or gelatinized yellow maca.
Our Raw Yellow Maca is made without the pre-cooking step used for gelatinized maca. It is kept below 105°F / 40°C during processing and is a good choice if you prefer maca in its raw form.
Because raw maca retains more of its natural starch, some people find it harder to digest. If you know you are sensitive to starch or have found raw maca difficult to digest in the past, gelatinized yellow maca may be a better choice.
Our Gelatinized Yellow Maca is pre-cooked before milling. This changes the starch structure of the root and produces a different texture and preparation from raw maca. Many people also find gelatinized maca easier to digest.
For a more detailed comparison of the two processing methods, see our Raw vs. Gelatinized Maca guide.
Once you have chosen raw or gelatinized maca, decide how you prefer to use it.
There is no single format that is best for everyone. The right choice is usually the one that fits most easily into your daily routine.
Once you know the processing style and format you prefer, compare the available products and sizes above. Choose the option that best fits how often you plan to use maca and how you want to incorporate it into your routine.
